The Great Ocean Road

I'm back! Understand that I have not been blogging for a while. Have been lazy while I'm in Australia, and busy as soon as I'm back in Singapore. Yup, this is one trip I must introduce to anyone who goes to Melbourne, the Great Ocead Road. For the people who are not into driving or riding, I would suggest you join the tour. For all drivers and riders who crave for that thrill in speeding through corners, prepare for one hell of a ride! Hahaha! This is actually one of the tourist attraction in Melbourne. It is a scenie drive along the coast of Melbourne. So, basically the trip is about enjoying the sea view, and a series of winding roads to go crazy for the daredevils.

I went on this trip with 3 friends - Ian, Brendan and Ying. For this trip, we rented a car from Hertz, a car rental company. We rented a 2.4 litre Toyota Camry initially, however it was given out when I went over to collect the car, so they gave me another car instead. They gave me a Holden Commodore. It's a fantastic car. According to the mechanic, it should be a 3.6 litre V6 engine. So I guess it's not too bad, paying the rental of a 2.4 litre car for a 3.6 litre car instead. Hahaha!

I don't really remember the details, I think we set off around 6am in the morning. We intend to make it a one day trip and have our dinner back in the city. Yup, it's a day of driving, music, photos, driving music photos and so on and so on.... There is this particular winding road which everyone will remember when they travel the Great Ocean Road. It's a series of winding roads which goes on for around an hour, non-stop. For the drivers, 1 hour of non-stop fun. For the passengers, car-sick! hahahaha! It is exactly like 99 bends in Singapore (drivers will probably know this place). The only difference is the one in Australia goes on for an hour. I call it the 9,999 bends. After 9,999 bends, we arrived at a nice small town call the Apollo Bay where we stop for lunch and some fresh air. I forgot to take pictures for the winding roads and Apollo Bay. So yup, if you want to know how it looks like, you gotta go on this trip.

Below is the car we rented, a Holden Commodore. It's an Australian brand and it seems to be receiving quite a good response in the country. I myself love the car as well. Spacious and powerful, great car!

That's me, driver of the day. Beside me is Ian, the co-driver cum DJ of the day cum my personal water boy. As I had a GPS system in the car, the co-driver wasn't really needed to give any directions. But he still did a great job for being the DJ and water boy. Kudos to Ian!

Ying and Brendan, the 2 passengers for the day. There is this 3rd passenger actually. If you look closely in between them, there is this grey teddy bear. His name is tatty. Sadly, he did not fight for his place in the picture, so you can't really see him very clearly.

Our first stop - Urquhuat Bluff. I don't know what place this is. We just decided to stop randomly for a rest and some quick photos.

We soon arrive at this lighthouse, another random place along the road. It's call Split Point Lighthouse. Took quite a number of pictures, but I only posted this one as I particularly like this photo. I think it's cool. Credits to Brendan, the great photographer!
Another lighthouse we went to - Cape Otway LIghthouse. One of the tourist attraction. Built in 1848, this is the oldest lighthouse on mainland Australia, playing an important role in Australia's maritime history.
Sea view from the top of the lighthouse. See the rocks? This lighthouse is built for a reason.

Okay, I don't remember where we took this photo. But i feel the 3 of us looks good in the picture. Kudos to Ying!

This place is called The Twelve Apostles. A must go if you were to go on the Great Ocean Road trip. It's a very nice place!
Another side of The Twelve Apostles. Nice? I like the colours in this picture.
Photo of Fantastic 4. Tatty was left in the car because he couldn't take the strong wind.
Our final stop - the London Bridge. It really does look like a bridge. The only problem, there is no way you can access to it.
After going to the London Bridge, we started heading back to the City. A 3 hours highway drive, by the time we reached back in the city. The sky was already dark, which is just nice for us to have a dinner before we call it a day.
Great weather! Great day!
To anyone who is reading this, Have a nice day!
